Accessibility at Bell Harbor

Our Commitment to Accessibility

The Bell Harbor International Conference Center is committed to furthering the accessibility and usability of its website, https://www.bellharbor.com. Bell Harbor International Conference Center will be using the relevant portions of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (“WCAG 2.0 AA”) to guide its compliance. The relevant portions of WCAG 2.0 AA will serve as our primary web accessibility standard, though other standards may also be used to provide accessibility to the extent required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”). Our website will be tested on a periodic basis in accordance with these standards in an effort to ensure accessibility. Some of the testing methods used may include assistive technology such as screen readers and screen magnifiers.

Accessibility of Public Entrances

• Main Lobby (3rd Floor): Accessible via SkyBridge from adjacent parking structure at 2323 Elliott Avenue (also referred to as the Bell Street Parking Garage,) then by use of elevator from the 4th floor (Skybridge landing) to the 3rd floor (Main Lobby landing.) There is also elevator access from the 1st floor (Street Level landing) for any guests utilizing public transportation, taxi, rideshare, or any vehicle from Alaskan Way.
• Waterlink Atrium, Waterlink Gallery, International Promenade, Olympic, and Elliott Hall: All are accessible from the1st Floor (Street level) entrances, followed by interior elevators to the 2nd and 3rd floors as needed.

Parking/Transportation

• Accessible vehicles can be accommodated on all levels of the Elliott Avenue Parking Garage and there are reserved spots for people who display an ADA parking placard or plate. The designated ADA accessible parking spots have adjacent space of sufficient width for an individual with a wheelchair to embark and disembark from their vehicle.
• All external and internal doorways are a minimum of 32” wide for an individual with a wheelchair to traverse the Skybridge to Bell Harbor International Conference Center. All floors are also accessible via elevator as needed, all of which have a minimum of 32” wide clear entrances and a 5x5 foot turning space within them.

Common Spaces, Hallways, and Prefunction Areas

• All hallways and prefunction spaces are accessible via wheelchair with hallways and doorways being at least 32” wide, with turning areas at least 5x5 feet wide.
• All floors are accessible by elevators that have a minimum of 32” wide entrances and a 5x5 foot turning space inside.
• Assistive listening devices are available upon request.
• Licensed Service Animals are welcome in all spaces.
• Staff will read printed/visual information to guests who are visually impaired or have low vision.

Meeting Rooms

• All doors from common spaces to meeting rooms have a minimum of 32" wide clear openings. For those rooms with double door entrances, they can all be opened with no obstructions between them.

Restrooms

• All doors from hallways to restrooms have at least a 32” wide clear opening. Stalls for wheelchair access are provided in each, with a minimum of 5x5 foot turning space.
• There are room descriptions in Braille on the restroom signs for visually impaired persons.
• The bottom edge of each mirror is no higher than 40" from the floor in restrooms and wheelchair accessible sinks are also available.

Accessible Communication Features

• Visual fire alarms (with flashing lights when activated.)
• Audible and visible alarms are connected to the building's fire alarm system and will activate automatically in case of emergency.
• Meeting Room names (including doors to public spaces, restrooms, and closets) have placards provided in Braille.
